Daily Devotional

Do you notice that sometimes when the Lord shows you something from His Word that you start to see references to it in more places? That’s how it was when the Lord impressed upon me the arrows of the wicked that were aimed at destroying my foundation. Soon after reading Psalm 11:13, I read this verse:

“The LORD thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered His voice,
Hailstones and coals of fire. He sent out His arrows and scattered the foe,
lightnings in abundance, and He vanquished them.” Psalm 18:13-14 (NKJV)

And then the next day I read this:

“Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the rebellion of the workers of iniquity, who sharpen their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows—bitter words, that they may shoot in secret at the blameless, suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear…” Psalm 64:2-4

“But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly they shall be wounded. So He will make them  stumble over their own tongue; all who see them shall flee away. All men shall fear, and shall declare  the work of God; for they shall wisely consider His doing. The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and trust in Him. And all the upright in heart shall glory.” Psalm 64:7-10

I noticed that not only does the enemy want to destroy my foundation; he also uses bitter words, spoken in secret. That makes me think of gossip. What a sneaky way the wicked uses to hurt us, and others. But as I look closely, the Lord’s arrows, His armor, His Word makes them stumble over their tongues and shoos them away. I’m so glad that the Lord’s arrows are mighty and He is fighting for me!
