"…that you may distinguish between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean, and that you may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD has spoken to them by the hand of Moses." Leviticus 10:10
As I am reading through the book of Leviticus I asked the Lord again, "Why is there a whole book in His Word that is dedicated to explaining all the different types of offerings for sin and how those offerings are to be given?" And here was an answer, so they would know what was holy and what was unholy, what was unclean and what was clean…and so they would pass that on to their children.
Knowing this, living it and passing it on was so important that a whole book was dedicated to it. And yet, in Psalm 69:29-36, we are taught there is something even more important than these sacrifices of explanation.
"But I am poor and sorrowful;
Let Your salvation, O God, set me up on high.
I will praise the name of God with a song,
And will magnify Him with thanksgiving.
This also shall please the LORD
Better than an ox or bull,
Which has horns and hooves.
The humble shall see this and be glad;
And you who seek God, your hearts shall live.
For the LORD hears the poor,
And does not despise His prisoners.
Let heaven and earth praise Him,
The seas and everything that moves in them.
For God will save Zion
And build the cities of Judah,
That they may dwell there and possess it.
Also, the descendants of His servants shall inherit it,
And those who love His name shall dwell in it."
God's salvation, Jesus Christ, desires praise and thanksgiving above the Levitical sacrifices. How do I relate that to my life today? First off, there is an attitude of my heart that is required to even see this…humility. It's so easy to get caught up in what I do and take pride in all of that. But God doesn't really care so much about that. If I am humble I will see that it isn't about me, it's about Him, what He has done and what He is doing. He died and saved me, He died and is continuing to save me, He died and will save me for eternity. Oh, how I need that salvation.
I also need to have a seeking heart. When I seek Him I will live. I need this now as well as the future. I need to feel alive in the midst of sorrow. David wrote this in a period of much sorrow and yet as he leaned into the Lord, His salvation he was able to praise the name of God with a song and magnify Him with thanksgiving. What a powerful thing praising and singing is to our soul.
And as we do this we are promised our descendants will inherit it. "Oh, that my children and my children's children will have this life of salvation. "
"Lord, help me to bow before you and offer a humble and contrite heart, so that I can truly praise you and thank you for your plan."

My Soul Will Wait (Psalm 62) Bob Kauflin and Keaton Bunting
Verse 1
When the enemy surrounds
And my heart grows faint within
When the darkness overwhelms
And my fears are pressing in
I will trust in You O Lord
In the silence I will wait
I will stand upon Your Word
Chorus 1
You're my solid rock and my salvation
My steadfast hope that won't be shaken
My soul will wait my soul will wait for You
Verse 2
You're my stronghold and my shield
In the midst of every threat
Though the wicked never yield
They will vanish like a breath
Yes I know the outcome's sure
Satan's evil plans will fail
In Your power I'm secure
Chorus 2
You're my solid rock and my salvation
My steadfast hope that won't be shaken
My soul will wait my soul will wait for You
You're my comfort when I feel forsaken
My refuge and my sure foundation
My soul will wait my soul will wait for You
Verse 3
This is love I can't explainThis is mercy unreserved
Through Your sacrifice so greatI have peace that's undeserved
For the battle has been won
And I fear no shame or loss
Now the sting of death is gone
