Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Have you ever watched Grey's Anatomy? My wife Alexis loves that show and every time I watch it with her, one of the doctor's are always performing surgery on somebody. I've come to understand, a surgeon's job is to cut their patients open, in order to repair something that can't be fixed from the outside. Of course this will hurt and eventually leave a scar, but this process is necessary for healing.

We can see God's Word on display everywhere we look, actively transforming the hardest of hearts and healing the deepest of wounds of those who open themselves up to it. But just like a surgeon would never cut you open without your consent, God is waiting for you to allow Him to work in the hidden most parts of your soul. Is His Word active in you life? Is there evidence?

God's words are so powerful that, if you let them, they can cut through the deepest and most guarded parts of your character. We run to Jesus because He, like the surgeon, has the ability to save lives. But only Jesus can save and transform lives through His words alone. Focus on how God's Word can pierce your heart and spirit.

If we could X-ray your heart, what do you think we'd see? Would you be ok if we saw everything it contained? God's Word cuts deep and has the ability to remove, repair, and restore. So how will you open yourself up to His Word today? Focus on allowing His Word to transform you today.
