1 Peter 1:22
"Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart."
Somewhere around the year 125 A.D. a converted Athenian philosopher delivered to the Roman Emperor Hadrian a defense of the Christian faith which included the following description of his fellow Christians: “They love one another; the widow’s needs are not ignored, and they rescue the orphan from the person who does him violence. He who has gives to him who has not, ungrudgingly and without boasting....if they find poverty in their midst and they do not have spare food, they fast two or three days in order that the needy might be supplied with necessities.” I read this account and I immediately ask the question: Would this same testimony be spoken today of the Christian Church at large or more specifically, Campus Bible Church, or even more specifically, of me personally? May the Lord direct our hearts into even greater opportunities to extend kindness and love to others.
