21 Days of Prayer for the Lost: Day 19

Hell Is Real

Revelation 21:8 – “But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” (ESV)

The Bible does not hide the truth about eternity. In Revelation 21, God unveils the beauty of the new heavens and new earth—a place where He dwells with His redeemed people forever. But alongside this glorious promise comes a sobering warning: all who reject Christ will face the “second death,” a final and irreversible separation from God.

This list in Revelation 21:8 is not meant to single out only the most outwardly sinful. John begins with the “cowardly” and the “faithless”—those who chose not to trust Christ. Hell is not merely for those we might consider extreme sinners; it is for those who never turn to Jesus in repentance and faith. This includes people we love, people we work with, people who seem kind or moral, yet do not know the Savior.

The good news is no one has to remain on this list! Through His death and resurrection, Jesus rescues, forgives, and transforms. The cross stands between this judgment and every person’s eternal destiny. God is still drawing people to Himself, softening hearts, and calling sinners home.

This is why Each One Win One matters so deeply. If eternity is real—and Scripture assures us it is—then our prayers, our witness, and our compassion matter more than ever.

We are not trying to win arguments; we are pleading for souls. We are not trying to pressure people; we are offering them the greatest hope ever given.

Hell is real—but so is the saving power of Christ. And God, in His great mercy, has chosen us to be His messengers.

As we prepare our hearts for 2026, Revelation 21:8 calls us to renewed urgency, deeper compassion, and bold faith. Someone you know is not ready for eternity. God may use your prayers and your gospel witness to change that forever.

Things to pray for today:
  • A softened heart for those who do not yet know Christ.
  • Boldness and compassion as we share the gospel.
  • Open doors for spiritual conversations.
  • For non-Christians to be convicted of the reality of hell.
