Jeremiah 34:4-5 – "This is what the LORD says: I am about to give this city into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he will burn it down. You will not escape from his grasp but will surely be captured and given into hands…Yet hear the LORD’s promise to you, Zedekiah king of Judah. This is what the LORD says concerning you: You will not die by the sword, you will die peacefully. " (NIV)

I’ve been reading in Jeremiah about the messages He gave to Zedikiah. He kept telling Zedikiah that if he would submit to Babylon the Lord would take care of him and Judah.

We can look at the passages and think, “Why didn’t he just do it? The Lord gave him so many opportunities.” But it must have been such a scary thought because to him it just looked like in doing so it would bring annihilation. But in actuality it was because he didn’t obey that they were taken into captivity and Zedekiah’s family was killed and he was tortured.

It’s so hard to just let go of fear, hurt, and many other emotions that make you feel out of control. It means letting go of the need to fix something that seems to need changing.

This week I’ve either experienced these emotions or watched as others have been struggling with them. It seems much easier to trust the LORD for their struggle than it is for me to open my hands up to Him and give Him mine.

The thing that I have been trying to say to myself in these instances is, “God, I don’t see why, or how, or who, but I want to give it over to You. I know you have “good will” for my life and even though I don’t see what you are doing, I’m going to trust you. Work in my life and change what You need to change in me. Help me believe You are doing a good work through the process.”

Firm Foundation (He Won’t)

Verse 1
Christ is my firm foundation
The rock on which I stand
When everything around me is shaken
I've never been more glad
That I put my faith in Jesus
'Cause He's never let me down
He's faithful through generations
So why would He fail now

Chorus 1
He won't He won't

Verse 2
I've still got joy in chaos
I've got peace that makes no sense
So I won't be going under
I'm not held by my own strength
'Cause I've built my life on Jesus
He's never let me down
He's faithful in every season
So why would He fail now

Chorus 2
He won't He won't
He won't fail
He won't fail (no)
(Oh) Rain came and wind blew
But my house was built on You
(And) I'm safe with You
I'm going to make it through

(REPEAT)
Yeah I'm going to make it through
'Cause I'm standing strong on You
Yeah I'm going to make it through
'Cause my house is built on You

Chorus 3
He won't He won't
He won't fail
He won't fail no He won't
