DAY 8: The Most Important Thing
In Colossians 1:28, the apostle Paul declared: “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.”
This verse reveals Paul’s priority in preaching. The thing he sought to preach and proclaim above all else was Christ. The person of Christ. The sacrifice of Christ. The triumph of Christ. In other words, the gospel of Christ!
Sometimes in the pro-life movement we lose sight of this.
We are known more for what we are against than what we are for. We are against sexual immorality... against the breakdown of the family... against abortion. All those things are true.
But Paul reminds us that the good news of Christ should always be our focus and our message.
It’s not simply that we are against sin. It’s that we are for something so much better... so much greater, rewarding and God-honoring.
Jesus said: “I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)
We need to tell people about the abundant life Christ offers to all who receive him.
We have great news for a world that desperately needs it! So let’s go tell people about it.
Today let Isaiah 61:1-3 guide your prayers:
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.”

- Healing for the brokenhearted
- Freedom for those held captive by sin
- Comfort for those who are mourning
- Pray that men and women seeking abortion would hear and receive the good news of Christ
