“Beautiful Feet??”
“… And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?...As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” -Romans 10:14-15
Ok, its feet checking time saints! How beautiful do your feet look today?? Now I’m not asking about the dirt you’ve collected or your shoe style, but of the radiance the scripture speaks of when you’re carrying good news to a hurting world.
We just had a wonderful GLOW outreach on Oct 31 and got to touch hundreds and hundreds of our neighbors at both Palm and Maple sites with God’s love and the good news of Jesus. Some maned station booths, others lead missional music, some cooked, gave candy and others walked around loving on people…but all to carry good news and thus feet became even more beautiful! But how about outside of a formalized Campus outreach? Do you find your faith staying pretty “personal” as some would say? Or are your prayers flooded with friends, family, and coworkers’ names, that Jesus would open a door to share them the freedom giving, bondage breaking good news of Jesus Christ?
In a recent October devotion, I shared about remembering we are “beautiful aliens” living in this temporary land…passing through to a better home (Heb 11:13). Well today I felt impressed to share part 2, about having “beautiful feet” … as we walk as “beautiful aliens.” We are not only different, but we carry a divine message, a Kingdom, a freedom Gospel, that liberates all who are bound by sin in a world that is perishing. Yes, it’s true that this truth is terribly drowned out by the noise of our culture’s other priorities, but it’s none less true and sure.
So today, look down at your feet and take a moment to pray to the Lord about your diligence in this precious area of Kingdom generosity. Not only does it bring such joy when those bound find freedom, and as Jesus said, it more “blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35), but what wondrous adventure it is when you leave the safety of stale religion for intimate obedience with Jesus each day. The fields are white unto harvest, and our world is shaken in very unique ways without a Savior…let’s commit to the honor together of having beautiful feet!
