1 Peter 5:7

Casting all your care upon him for he cares for you.

In today’s world, where do we go to find relief from the stressors of life? The Apostle Peter tells us to “cast our cares” on the Lord. The word for “care” means to have a division in our mind. It pictures “being pulled in different directions.” Our hopes pull us in one direction; our fears pull us the opposite direction; and we are pulled apart! The Old English root from which we get our word “worry” means “to strangle.” If you have ever really worried, you know how it does strangle a person! Peter tells us we are to “cast” those things that divide our mind on the Lord. The word means, “to throw.” It is an act of our will that we commit our cares to the Lord. We allow God to assume the responsibility for our life. Why are we able to trust the Lord? Because Peter says, “He cares for you.”  Literally, “it matters to Him about you.” God is interested in every detail of our lives today. What steps do you need to take to cast your cares on our Lord? He is interested in us beyond anything we can understand!
