Zechariah 2:1–2 - "Then I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand. So I said, 'Where are you going?' And he said to me, 'To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.'" (NKJV)
So many times in the latter books of the Old Testament you read about areas that are being measured. Sometimes I understand why they are doing it and other times I’m not sure. But when I read this I was struck by the thought that God is interested in the details.
It’s so true that God sees the big picture. He sees the beginning and the end. He is aware of it all. But it is also a comfort for me to know He cares about the small things…the details of the journey. And even though those details can trip us up or cause us to question, He uses them to stretch us.. We sometimes can't see the good or the reason until we get to the point of seeing the big picture. But those details are so important to conform, transform and lead us in what or where He wants us to be,
As I have been working on the Easter Walkthrough this year, it seems like each element has brought about a feeling of "Oh no, how will this get taken care of," and then a point of surrender and trusting the Lord, and then finally His provision in the "small thing." He is helping me trust that as I look back I will ultimately see the bigger picture of all He is working to accomplish.
