We ask God for many things in this life.

We want cars and money and health and security and a husband or a wife and comfort and happiness and children and politicians and a career and…

Those are not bad things. They just aren't the main thing.

LISTEN UP: You can’t be focused on the most important thing in life if you’re overly concerned about the less important things.

It doesn’t work that way.

King David reminded himself (and us as well) that there is one thing to be focused on: Being with God, forever!

It sounds so holy or too easy or almost theological. But the most important things are often the easiest to understand.

Easy to understand. Difficult to do.

It’s like prayer. You know that God wants you to pray, that He answers prayer, and that the solution to your problems is through prayer. But too many of us don’t pray very often.

We know the answer. We just don’t do the answer.

What are you seeking after? Where is your attention?

Here are the main action words in this verse: asked, seek, dwell, behold, meditate.

Find yourself in these words as you ask God for the right thing(s), to seek diligently after Him, to dwell in His presence forever, to behold His beauty, and to meditate in His temple forevermore.

PS: It is easier to focus on what is important when you remove your attention from the less important things around you.
